Marten Scarlotta

Going through artwork from my high school years, I stumbled across an old piece I did of an anthropormorphic macaw and wondered what it could look like today if I applied the experience I've gained since I made the original picture.

In order to update the design, I took the time to reference elements that I hadn't as a child, namely the legs, talons, and beak as to ensure that the final design would better reflect the avian concepts. Additionally, I made sure to insert textures of feathers wherever there is an overlap of body or meeting of colors.

Finally, the concept of Marten having a chef/cooking background started with my love of Food Network competitive cooking shows, but then made me realize there was more I could do than just 'chef attire', such as the more 'casual Bobby Flay' button-down or 'Mixologist/Bartender' vest and tie.
